Anchor Text
Anchor text — the clickable text of a link — provides topical context to both users (what they will find at the destination) and search engines (what the linked page is about). Missing anchor text and non-descriptive text like "click here" or "read more" both fail to provide this context. These two checks identify the most common anchor text quality issues.
Links Without Anchor Text
Warning
<a> elements with no visible text or image alt text — link purpose is unknown.
Non-Descriptive Anchor Text
Notice
Links use "click here", "read more", "here", etc. — no topical context for crawlers or users.
Audit your anchor textquality site-wide
The audit reports anchor text quality across all internal links so you can identify patterns of missing or weak link text.
