Internal Links

Internal links are the connective tissue of a website — they determine how search engines discover pages, how equity flows through the site, and how users navigate between content. A broken internal link is a dead end; a nofollow on a critical internal link silently cuts off equity flow; a page with no inbound internal links may be invisible to crawlers.

These checks audit every dimension of internal link health: whether links resolve correctly, whether anchor text provides topical context, how equity flows through followed and nofollowed links, and whether link volume is appropriate for the page type.

Select a topic below to see exactly what the platform checks and how to fix each internal link issue.

Broken Links

Broken internal links, broken bookmarks pointing to missing anchors, malformed URLs, and links pointing to redirect URLs.

View 4 checks →

Anchor Text

Links without any anchor text and links using non-descriptive generic text that provides no topical signal to crawlers.

View 2 checks →

Link Behavior

Nofollow misuse on internal links, pages with all-nofollow inlinks, link islands with no outlinks, and localhost references.

View 6 checks →

Volume

Pages with only one inbound internal link, pages with high outlink counts, and pages with too many total links.
