Performance
Page performance is both a direct ranking signal (Core Web Vitals are page experience factors) and an indirect one — slow pages have higher bounce rates, lower engagement, and reduced conversion rates, all of which affect the behavioral signals search engines observe.
Google uses three Core Web Vitals as official ranking signals: Largest Contentful Paint (load speed), Cumulative Layout Shift (visual stability), and Interaction to Next Paint (interactivity). The overall PageSpeed score synthesizes these and additional lab metrics into one number. Resource count checks identify CSS and JavaScript bloat that contributes to poor scores.
